Action and Environmental
Causes to make an entirely new website called Environmental ACTION! This is the goal of
this new site: Although there are many great environmental action sites on the Internet,
there is no one site that pulls together all the environmental alerts from newsgroup
postings, private web sites, and the major news sites. This site is designed to
enable you to use the Internet to help a multitude of environmental situations by bringing
together a great number of them under one roof and providing all the tools you will need
- 11/13/98--This in from WWF, where I used the Internet to send President Clinton a
message: "Thank you! Your messages to President Clinton
urging him to sign the Kyoto Climate Change Protocol and to take immediate steps to reduce
carbon pollution in the United States have been successful! Yesterday the United States
signed the Protocol and announced specific policies for reducing its greenhouse gas
emissions. Signing the Protocol sends an important signal of U.S. leadership to world
governments about to conclude a ten-day conference in Buenos Aires aimed at slowing global
warming. The new policies include measures to restructure the utility industry to promote
cleaner use of energy; energy efficiency standards for electrical appliances, housing and
possibly cars; and changes in federal procurement policies. Each of the proposed measures
can be implemented by the Administration using existing legislative authority and without
need for separate Congressional approval. Congratulations on a job well done! For more
information about the results of your actions, visit the "results" section of
