        Scorecard Home This site, by the Environmental Defense Fund, allows visitors to quickly find out what companies are polluting in any given area, what the major pollution levels are, how our community compares with others, how to take action, and view a map of our area.  All you have to do is type in your zip code.   If you type in 14692, I think you'll be shocked by Monroe County's pollution ranking.  

     Welcome To Earth's 911 Earth’s 911 provides information on the environment including reducing, reusing, and recycling; your nearest recycling center location; how to buy recycled products; how to handle household hazardous waste; an interactive kid’s section; and more! Detailed sections on air and water quality, composting, and energy conservation will soon roll out nationwide. Recycling is easy if you can locate a current place to recycle your materials.

Representatives in Government

        Most of our government representatives are on the Internet.  Contact them for environmental information and to to get them act on specific environmental concerns you have.  Most representatives ask that their constituents provide their names and addresses.  You must do this if you want a response.

 


Town and Village in and around Rochester and Monroe Co. (and nearby) Web Sites

    Though not specifically environmental web sites, Internet access to our local governments is an important wealth of information on environmental policies and news.  These sites are official sites.  Also, you can contact these sites for more information and your suggestions. I will eventually get all our towns, within the 144-145 zip codes, as soon as they get on the Internet.

 

Institutions of Higher Learning

  Our community has a large concentration of institutions of higher learning.  Many have environmental programs, studies, and, of course, they are an excellent source for online information..
