Working with neighborhood residents and partners to create a vibrant and thriving community through empowerment and advocacy while meeting basic needs. Cameron Street’s Peace Garden began in 2015 when the City of Rochester allowed Cameron to use an empty lot down the street for a beautification project. Members from the community helped to plant and maintain the small garden and then in 2018, Cameron was able to purchase three adjoining lots to their main building. On these lots, a brand- new Teen Center was constructed and the Peace Garden was expanded. Today, the large peaceful space is home to produce, flowers, herbs, trees, a pergola and seating areas. It is a true oasis on Cameron Street.
