4/27-29: Energy Fair and Home Tours. The
North Country Sustainable Energy Fair and Home Tours will be held at the SUNY Canton Campus Center in Canton, NY. Speakers include Apollo Alliance Coordinator, Jeff Jones. Wind Power Project Milestones
Clinton, Franklin, Wyoming, Steuben, and Herkimer Counties — Nine wind projects have been selected by the NYS Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA) to provide renewable energy to New York consumers under the Renewable Energy Portfolio (RPS) Program. Under the second competitive soliticitation of the RPS Program, NYSERDA will enter into 10-year contracts with the following wind projects: Noble Bliss Wind Park planned for Wyoming County; Noble Chateaugay Wind Park planned for Franklin County; Jordanville Wind Farm planned for Herkimer County; Dutch Hill Wind Farm, Cochocton Wind Farm, and the Wind Farm Prattsburgh planned for Steuben County; and the Noble Altona Wind Park, Noble Clinton Wind Park I, and the Noble Ellenburg Wind Park planned for Clinton County. Delaware County — The Town of Andes Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed amendments to the Town of Andes' Zoning Law regarding the siting of wind trbines will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The proposed local law would amend the Town of Andes Zoning Law in regards to the siting and/or building of wind turbines. The project is located in the Town of Andes, Delaware County, NY. Genesee County — The Town of Alabama Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Alabama Ledge Wind Farm may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. A public scoping session will be held on May 3, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Alabama Fire Hall 2218 Judge Road (Adjacent to the Town of Alabama Town Hall), Oakfield, New York. The action involves the development of a wind powered electric generating project in the Town of Alabama, Genesee County, New York. It is the intent of Alabama Ledge Wind Farm, LLC to construct up to 56 wind turbines, associated components including meteor-ological towers, a system of access gravel roads, electrical collection and communication cable network, an operation and maintenance building, and an on-site step-up sub-station, and interconnection sub-station within the Town of Alabama. The project is bordered by Macomber and Slusser Road to the east, the Alabama Town Line to the south, Alleghany Road to the west and Ham Road to the north. The sub-station is located just south of Judge Road and west of Gorton Road, adjacent to the existing National Grid (formerly Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation) 115kV transmission line. Franklin County — The Town Boards of Towns of Bellmont and Chateaugay, as co-lead agencies, have determined that the proposed Noble Chateaugay Windpark and Noble Bellmont Windpark may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement has been prepared. These agencies held public hearings on April 3rd and April 17th. Copies of the Draft EIS are available for public inspection during normal business hours in Town Clerk's Office of the Town of Chateaugay, Town Hall, 191 East Main Street, Chateaugay, NY and the Chateaugay Memorial Library, Town Hall, 191 East Main Street, Chateaugay, NY, the Town Clerk's Office of the Town of Bellmone, 1251 County Route 24, Malone, NY 12953, Law Office of C. J. Madonna, 10 Oak Street, Plattsburgh, NY, Noble Offices, 7430 Route 11, Churubusco, NY and on their website at www.noblepower.com . The applicant (Noble Windpark LLC) has proposed the construction, operation and maintenance of a 129 MW wind energy facility containing 86 1.5 MW wind turbines, associated infrastructure including but not limited to access roads, collection and transmission lines, and substation(s). Of the 86 turbines, 72 will be located in the Town of Chateaugay and 14 in the Town of Bellmont. Each turbine will be approximately 389 feet tall when the blade is at it highest point. The project is located along Routes 11 and 374 and public roads throughout the Towns of Chateaugay and Bellmont, Franklin County, New York. Contact: C.J. Oswego County — The New York State Energy Research & Development Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed installation of a 10 kW Wind Turbine and 120 ft. Guyed Lattice Tower at the Snyder Property will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves installation of a 10 kW Wind Turbine and 120 ft. Guyed Lattice Tower at the Snyder Property. The project is located at 221 Co Rte. 22 Altmar, NY. Seneca County — The New York State Energy Research & Development Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Installation of a 10 kW Wind Turbine and 120 ft. Guyed Lattice Tower at the Bailke property will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the installation of a 10 kW wind turbine atop a 120 meter guyed tower at the Bailke property, 9706 Congress Street Extension in Trumansburg, NY. This wind turbine will be a total of 131 feet high to the top of the blades. The project is located in Seneca County in the Town of Covert.
